Right now, there is a nasty streak of cold weather that is devestating many parts of our great country. If you have been subjected to this cold weather, you understand the harsh
effects it has on any exposed skin.
READ THIS: Keep your skin moist. What skin? All skin, especially the skin exposed to the elements.
How do I keep skin moist on a budget? There are many ways to satisfy your skin's moisture needs on a budget. Start with Jergens products. These are great for multiple uses
throughout the day. Aveeno, www.aveeno.com, makes products that deliver great results and are geared to sensitive skin. Neutragena. This is a brand associated with deep treatment and healing. This Scandanavian based product line has taken the guess work out of over the counter deep moisture treatment products. We recommend all products for use. This would include all bath oils. Place the oil on your body while in the shower or tub after washing for the ultimate in body moisturizing treatment, blot with a soft warm towel and follow with your favorite Neutragena topical moiturizer. Products are available in a very unique and enjoyable scent or unscented.
NOW PRODUCTS, www.nowfoods.com sells a great castor oil for all who seek a more natural approach to skin care. Place the oil in your bath or onto your body while in the shower for mega moisturizing. Add any aromatherapy oils to the mix for theraputic and scentual properties. www.nowfoods.com I have pressed the oil into my face before cleansing for a deep moistuizing cleanse. This treatment will leave skin balmy and moist. Most of all, it will leave your skin semi-weather proof. Apply your favorite moisturizer for extended moisture results.
Apply a primer with a silicone base over the skin (think thin layer) under your foundation. Tarte makes a great primer called Clean Slate that I swear by. www.tarte.com. Generally during this time of the year, for the sake of protection, I dust mineral foundation atop the moisture layers to seal and set the treatments and color. The harsh wind will blow cold on your skin and can remove your moisture barrier. Prepare your skin for cold weather conditions.
LIPS. Nivea makes "super products" geared to moisturize, treat and protect. I keep a tube of their products in my purses, by my computer and on my night stand. Always mositurize your lips. They are one of the thinest exposed skin area of the body.
HANDS. Keep your hands moist and covered at all times. Use bag balm for a mega moisture treatment. Apply balm, cover with a thick sock and allow to set while you sleep. When you wake up the next morning, you will have balmy, moist hands ready for a new winter day!
